Xirundu EcoLodge is a small self-catering lodge on the dune forest edge at Chizavane beach, in the Chidenguele administrative post of Gaza Province. It has three separate units rather than a block of rooms, each with its own kitchen, outdoor bathing area and shaded spot on the sand. The lodge publishes its own coordinates and calls itself a dune forest sanctuary as well as a place to stay.

Xirundu EcoLodge suits self-catering couples, families and small groups who want a quiet beach base and are happy without a restaurant on site
Less suitable for travellers without a suitable vehicle, or anyone who wants hotel service, nightlife or a large resort
Location
The lodge is at Massano Beach, Chizavane, on the open Indian Ocean coast of Gaza Province. In a straight line it is about 17.6 km south-west of our Chidenguele village reference point. The surroundings are dune forest and beach rather than a village centre, and the lodge notes that a couple of restaurants are within walking distance with another a short drive away.
Rooms and style at Xirundu EcoLodge
Three units are let. Casa Rio is the largest and sleeps up to twelve people, with two en-suite bedrooms holding king beds and two sleeping lofts. Casa Monika is a beachfront chalet with an enclosed bedroom upstairs, a sleeping loft and living, kitchen and dining space below. Casa Nika is a furnished tent on a hardwood floor with a king bed and a bunk area, plus indoor and outdoor bathrooms. All three are self-catering and each has a braai area.
Facilities at Xirundu EcoLodge
Verified facilities include self-catering kitchens in every unit, outdoor showers or bathrooms, braai areas, private beach shades and private walkways to the sand. Water is drawn from a deep well that the lodge states is safe to drink. A private chef can be booked in advance. Activities are mostly self-directed: swimming, snorkelling, fishing, canoeing, beach and dune-forest walks, paddleboard yoga and stargazing, with whale watching in the June to November window.
Trade-offs and what to know
There is no restaurant or bar on site, so meals mean cooking, arranging the chef or walking out to a neighbouring place
With only three units and a dune-forest setting, this is a quiet property rather than a lively one, and supplies are best bought before arrival
Getting there and getting around
Access is off the main north-south road through Gaza Province, then down sandy tracks towards the coast, so a vehicle with proper ground clearance is the sensible choice and many visitors use a four-wheel-drive. Before you book
Confirm which of the three units you are getting and how its beds are arranged, since capacity is made up partly of lofts. Ask what kitchen equipment, linen and towels are supplied, whether to bring food and drinking water, and how far ahead the private chef must be booked.
