The Great Limpopo region covers Mozambique’s inland wildlife parks west of the coastal strip. Limpopo National Park adjoins South Africa’s Kruger National Park and is part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, with Massingir as the main town on its eastern side.

Zinave and Banhine National Parks lie further north and east. Distances are long, roads can be sandy and travel here needs more planning than a coastal trip.

Limpopo National Park

Limpopo National Park lies along Mozambique’s border with South Africa and adjoins Kruger National Park. Massingir, on its eastern side beside the Massingir Dam, is the main gateway town. Read the Limpopo National Park guide.

Zinave National Park

Zinave National Park lies inland in Inhambane province, on the southern bank of the Save River. It has been restocked with wildlife in recent years and is part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area. Read the Zinave National Park guide.
